Three Year Olds

By this age, the children are well on their way or completely potty trained. They also know their alphabet and numbers, and many can do simple phonics skills—sounding out beginning consonants and knowing long and short vowel sounds.

Lesson plans become more focused on pre-reading and early number skills, and children may do more independent and small group projects. Teachers’ expectations include that children should be able to spend more concentrated time on a specific project or game, can color inside the lines, and can write and read their own names. Three year-olds participate in a weekly art enrichment program and a weekly Yoga/Movement class.
